The classic question. The truthful answer to it is always specifically personal. In broad strokes, many want a comfortable existence in our brief time on this planet: beyond food and shelter, most want as little stress as is possible (some on the other hand, thrive on stress, but that is another conversation, for another day). If having enough money is a way to reduce stress, I am thinking that most of you would like to follow a path that leads in that direction. I certainly do.
I love my job helping people work their way to having enough money to accomplish their financial goals (when they are reasonable and rational), whatever they may be, because as we progress, over time, it reduces their level of worry, they are generally happier (more content) people and I get a certain pleasure from seeing that evolve. I have had the great experience of working with some of our current clients since I began helping families manage their wealth some twenty plus years ago. They are all on successful paths at the moment. Some folks got less patient along the way, it happens (shiny object syndrome), and they moved on. Some added significantly to my stress level and we agreed that they would be better served finding a different path or at least a different guide for their particular journey. Not everyone is the right fit for each other in the world of wealth management. I do, however, hope that they have managed to move closer to their goals.
Back in September I posted a 5 part series of blogs on Mitigating Risk. Three of them (parts 3 through 5) have made it to our new website, parts 1 and 2, not as yet (although I am told that all our previous blogging history is coming), so I plan on re-posting them soon, because I think that they are rather pertinent. Growing your money (reducing your financial stress), especially in our current times, is fraught with uncertainty and it is even more important for savers and investors to be assessing the risks now, in light of this. I do hope that they help.
But I also need your help. Last week I attended a webinar that was titled “Taking Our Brand To The Next Level”. It was suggested that in order to become even more visible (i.e. find more folks in need of my / our High Rock brand of difference making and stress reduction), that I /we should perhaps host more events and publish more material, like a book. As any of you readers may / should have realized by now, I am not, nor have I ever been, trained in the craft of writing. Although, from time to time, a few of our real writer clients have offered wonderful suggestions.
There are plenty of books written to provide assistance to those in need of help looking for personal financial success, but I think that in order to properly address a new (and hopefully enlightening) offering, that might prove to be something beyond the ordinary, I likely need your guidance.
So what is it that is important to you? What do you need to learn about or understand better in order to lower your financial stress level? What do you want your money to do for you? There are no bad questions (everyone has a different level of understanding). I am wide open to suggestions. [email protected]
